Invited by the Mies van der Rohe Haus in Berlin, Specker collected 27 plants in the garden of the Lemke country house and photographed them in her studio on images from a Bauhaus catalog or fashion magazines of the same period. Analogous to botanical plant crossings, Heidi Specker invents photographic crossings, by using this mixture of media. Inspired by a concert of the rock musician Neil Young, whose album The Monsanto Years campaigns against genetically manipulated seeds. Her photographs are dealing with several image levels about the relationship between art and nature, present and history, expectation and perception were created.
